FT. Wheel Drives

2010 Front Wheel Drive Rules
1. Any domestic or foreign front wheel drive car is OK. No truck, van, SUV, or all wheel drive vehicles will be allowed. No minimum weight or wheelbase. Cars must remain COMPLETELY stock. NO modifications allowed to engines, suspension, fuel systems, or brakes. ALL engine parts AND transmission MUST be OEM orginal factory stock, including ALL parts connected to the motor. K&N air filters may be used, but MUST fit inside original box. NO CROSSBREEDING OF CARS ALLOWED. Factory motor – NO exceptions! Engines MUST match car year for year. No locking differentials, or after-market differentials. These CAN and WILL BE checked on a random basis. NO after-market mass air flow sensors. You MAY slot out bolt holes on struts for camber adjustments. Pull-off steering wheel is optional, but recommended.
2. NO alterations will be allowed to the on-board computer control system. This includes replacing the control chip. (This WILL BE CHECKED on a random basis.)
3. MUST have a 4 point cage, built with a minimum of 1 1/2” OD (outside diameter) tubing, with at least 3 driver side bars and 1 passenger side bar. Cage should be mounted on a flat plate, if welding to the floor. We recommend welding the cage to the rocker panels for strength. Side bars MUST come out against the doors. Rear ‘kicker’ bars may tie into the rear strut towers. You may run a brace bar from side to side to support the towers. No part of the cage is to go past the front fire wall. Bars to support/mount the radiator may be used, but must remain behind the grill and cannot connect to the fire wall or cage. Any underhood support may ONLY tie into the radiator support. No connection to the roll cage – front OR rear. MUST use flat plate for tie-in to strut supports. Bars/Supports CANNOT stick out of front or rear trunk and cannot be ‘ragged.’
4. MUST have a 5 point racing harness and racing seat. If you are running a car with a sun roof, you MUST either close the opening with sheet metal or use arm restraints. NO EXCEPTIONS.
5. Stock type tires and wheels ONLY. No racing tires allowed. Tires must remain the same size, side to side. (ie: No stagger.) Minimum 20 lbs. of air pressure, before and after the race. No homemade wheels or off-set wheels that allow the tire to stick out past the fender or body line. Cars will not be DQ’d with a flat on the lead lap. All decisions made by track officials are final and NOT negotiable.

6. All glass, head lights, tail lights, etc. must be removed. All outside trim, moldings, and mirrors must be removed. ALL flammable interior and plastics MUST be removed.
7. Door may be replaced with steel (no aluminum) skins, but remain stock appearing and adhere to the original body lines.
8. Removal of inner door panels and quarter panels in front of rear wheel wells is OK. Hoods may be skinned and mounted with a MINIMUM of 4 hood pins. NO other hulling/skinning/gutting will be allowed.
9. Fuel cells are allowed. Placement of fuel cell is restricted to the trunk area or behind the driver. Location MUST be behind a firewall (no holes). The fuel cell firewall can ONLY be constructed of steel (NO aluminum). The fuel cell firewall CANNOT be used in any way to ‘deck’, or fill in, the interior area behind the driver. Re-enforcement of the new fuel cell location is OK, as long as the ‘bracing’ DOES NOT alter the original frame, or support structure of the car. (Refer to Rule 3.) This rule will be enforced by track officials, at random, and track official’s decision is FINAL.
10. Batteries may be re-located within the driver’s compartment, but MUST have a secure cover that will prevent battery acid from being spilled onto the driver in the event of a roll over or collision, AND be located OUTSIDE of the fuel cell firewall, if used.
11. Windshield screen, or bars, is MANDATORY. Nerf bars that mount FLUSH with the body and can be no more than 1” X 2” if using flat tubing or 1 5/8” OD if using round tubing.
12. Fuel injection, carburetor, or turbo chargers are allowed, but MUST be OEM for the make and model of your car. (This WILL BE CHECKED on a random basis.) Any electronic fuel pumps, that are OEM equipment, MUST have a ‘flip over/upside down’ or automatic shut off switch installed.
13. Manual or automatic transmission is OK, but MUST remain OEM.
14. Tubing may be allowed for bumpers, but ONLY under a stock bumper cover. Stock bumpers from another car may be used, as long as appearance remains close to stock. No cut-offs or sharp edges allowed.
15. Tow hooks or chains are MANDATORY on front AND rear and MUST be easily accessible to recovery/tow vehicles. (Tri-State Speedway will NOT be liable, in any way, for any damage incurred, due to inappropriate/inadequate hooks/chains on a vehicle.)
16. Exhaust MUST extend past the rear of the driver’s seat. No right-hand exhaust pipes allowed. The ONLY exhaust component that may be removed is the catalytic converter. No headers or after-market parts will be allowed.
17. A full fire-proof racing suit is required. A fire-proof neck brace, gloves, and shoes are also required. You will not be allowed to compete without these items.
18. A working fire extinguisher, that is EASILY driver accessible, is mandatory. Mounting CAN NOT be restricted from the driver in any way. A secure mounting is required. (NO tape or plastic ties will be allowed.) If you do not have one, you will be subject to disqualification each time you race without one. The fire extinguishers must be real, and in working order. The extinguishers can be checked at any time, by any track official.

19. All cars are required to use a single or double digit number ONLY. All numbers MUST be at least 24” tall and of a contrasting color to the body. (Failure to do so could result in your car being scored incorrectly.) The first driver to register a number will be the ONLY car allowed to use that number for the ENTIRE 2010 season.
