(Mt. Ida, AR) March 11, 2003 Jason Hughes from Colcord, OK laid claim to the top prize all three nights of racing action and collected $10K for his efforts. Hughes held off the likes of Eddie Martin, Mark Noble, Skeet Amason, and Johnny Bone, Jr. in each of the weekend’s main events. On Thursday, Hughes came from his sixth row starting spot and raced with Martin and Bone, Jr. lap after lap and finally took over the helm on lap 30. Friday night, Hughes won his heat and earned the pole for the A-Main qualifier and would go on to win that race as well, thus putting him on the pole for Saturday’s $5K to win A-Main. Saturday came and went with the same result, another win this time netting him the additional $5,000. Hughes had made one trip to Arkansas Raceway Park back in July of 2003, with the now defunct, Mod CARS sanction, and had nothing but bad luck. This wouldn’t be the case on this weekend and Hughes said after the race on Saturday, I like this place. When are we racing here again?” Congratulations to Jason Hughes and his crew for their win this weekend and thanks to all who came out and supported the Second Annual Razorback Nationals at Arkansas Raceway Park.
